This was an absolutely delightful read, full of spirits, mythical creatures, and folklore - all topics I utterly enjoy!
I am not going to spoil it for those wishing to read this story, but I WILL tell you it is told in first-person by an unlike heroine who finds herself in a place she had not planned on being and takes on the responsibility to make things right.
While this is considered YA, old people like myself can also enjoy the tale, especially those who enjoy folktales from other countries.
An easy read, and the only reason why I did not finish it in a few days is because I needed to go to sleep. I ended spending my birthday in bed reading the bulk of the story and finishing it.
How exciting I was to find out Rachel Smythe had turned her web comic into a beautiful book so I could look at her incredible and inventive artwork and read her unique and original storyline on large pages!
This is a new take on the Hades and Persephone story, with the Gods and Goddesses 'colour-coded' and living in a modern setting while the humans below are still living their lives in ancient Greece.
This web comic (on Webtoons) originally caught my attention because of the artwork but the storyline grabbed me by the arm and dragged me into the world of these definitely different Greek Pantheon.
It deals with real 'human' issues affecting so many people in our own world.
Yes, people are cosplaying the characters!
This is only book One and the comic is still going, which makes the fans so happy!
I enjoy reading fairy tales from other lands because many times I find the same tale from another place leaking into another country, along with their own twists.
I greatly enjoyed reading Celtic Tales. I like having short stories as 'wind down' reading before sleeping, and fantasy is a delightful way to send myself off to sleep with lovely dreams.
Thanks: --> to Lia, my sensei, who has inspired me to draw again. I
wouldn't be doing this without your support, Domo Arigato!
--> to Talon, for sending me her fabulous fics, inspiring me with her writing to draw my first
illustration for a story and actually liking what I drew.
--> to Dasia, for her words of encouragement when drawing her original chara.
--> to Joules, a wonderful epic fic writer, for liking my art enough to want to post them with Talon's
and her own stories.
--> to Lutra, the other half of the epic team, for being so supportive.
--> to Jacque' & Becca Raddittzu, we met on eBay as bidder and sellers and now we are face-to-face
friends. You showed us the real DBZ with your fansubs. It's all your fault the house is full of
doujinshi! *LOL*
